Chatting With Sherri welcomes back crime novelist, editor and President of the Detection Club; Martin Edwards!
Martin Edwards has drawn on more than 30 years’ experience as a crime novelist. He is also an internationally acclaimed editor of crime anthologies for the British Library and other publishers. In addition to enjoying many years of success as a crime writer, he is the only person to have been elected to serve as Chair of the Crime Writers’ Association and President of the Detection Club at the same time. This experience gives him a special understanding of the challenges facing crime writers. Having combined his writing life with more than 30 years as a partner in a law firm, he is ideally equipped to encourage aspiring novelists to write while coping with a day job or other commitments.
The Life of Crime: Unravelling the Mysteries of Fiction’s Favourite Genre-In the first major history of crime fiction in fifty years, The Life of Crime: Detecting the History of Mysteries and their Creators traces the evolution of the genre from the eighteenth century to the present, offering brand-new perspective on the world’s most popular form of fiction.
Coming soon from Martin Edwards; The House on Graveyard Lane-The woman in white—surreal artist Damaris Gethin—has invited a select group to the opening of her exhibit "Artist in Crime," held in the eerie subterranean Hades Gallery. As costumed models reenact famously violent deaths, the artist herself portrays Marie Antoinette on the day of her execution, complete with a guillotine on the stage. It's not a prop; within ten minutes of Rachel's promise to solve Damaris's future murder, the artist slips her neck into the collar of the device and the very real blade sends her head rolling at the feet of her horrified audience.

Chatting With Sherri welcomes author; Elaine Schroller!
Elaine Schroller writes about love, loss, and redemption experienced by Australian, American, and French characters during WWI and WWII.
DARE NOT TELL is the story of Joe Parker, an Australian WWI vet, and his American wife Sophie, a WWI nurse. It begins with Sophie and Joe’s chance meeting in 1916 Paris and chronicles their relationship through thick and thin up to the threshold of WWII.
THE BRAVEST SOLDIERS is set in Australia and the South West Pacific Area during World War II and explores how the women who wait at home must be the bravest soldiers. The book features Sophie and Joe, their sons, visitors from the US, plus a new romance and a trio of children whom life has treated very unfairly.
Elaine is currently writing the next chapter in Sophie and Joe's story to discover the truth about what happened to Joe’s brother Robbie, who was declared ‘Missing, presumed dead’ in April 1917.
She was an oil brat, and attended high schools in Algeria, England, Texas, and Lebanon. Her degree is in History, which gave her the perfect training for researching specific places and events in DARE NOT TELL and THE BRAVEST SOLDIERS. She has traveled to all but one of the countries in the books and visited all the sites where the stories take place, some more than once.
For many years she has lived in Bellaire, Texas where she and her husband raised their son and had multiple rescue cocker spaniels underfoot.
She's a member of the Historical Novel Society and the Women's Fiction Writers Association and hopes you will love reading her books as much as she loved writing them.

Chatting with Sherri welcomes back award winning author; Tim Powers!
Tim Powers published The Skies Discrowned and Epitaph in Rust in 1976. Tim’s subsequent novels are The Drawing of the Dark, The Anubis Gates (winner of the Philip K. Dick Memorial Award and the Prix Apollo), Dinner at Deviant’s Palace (winner of the Philip K. His most recent book is Hide Me Among the Graves. The Manchester Guardian called Powers “the best fantasy writer to appear in decades.”
Tim teaches the annual Writers of the Future workshop. He has been involved with the Contest since its early years, serving as one of the instructors (along with Algis Budrys and Orson Scott Card) at the very first official WotF workshop in Sag Harbor.
“I think I’ve been a judge for most of the quarters in the past two decades. This means that several times a year I get a stack of manuscript photocopies via next-day mail, and take a day off from my own writing to read them all and evaluate them; this is no chore, since Dave Wolverton or K.D. Wentworth has already culled them from the total volume of submissions, and invariably there is at least one story that I’m grateful to have a chance to read. I send my verdicts in, and usually I hang on to a couple of the photocopies, just because I want to have the chance to read them again before the actual anthology is published.” — Tim Powers
