Chatting With Sherri welcomes award-winning writer, Devon Bohm !
Devon is a poet and writer who received her BA from Smith College and her MFA in Poetry and Fiction from Fairfield University. At Fairfield, Bohm became increasingly frustrated with the denial of genre fiction as “Literature” and began exploring the big question of why people were attracted to different forms of speculative fiction. The answer she found didn’t surprise her, as it was what she’d always valued about her favorite writers: genres like fantasy or science-fiction perform the same function of all good literature by finding new and inventive ways to help the reader see their world (and self) more clearly.
Devon is a winner in our international contest, The Writers of the Future and her winning story, "Kitsune," is published in L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 39

Fostering Love-Families are the foundation of society. When we care for and protect children, we ensure that future generations thrive as well. The devastation that abuse and neglect cause have taught us the immense impact—good and bad—that parents have on children. This book will enlighten readers beyond those directly involved with foster children to see the resiliency and potential that can be hidden in these vulnerable girls and boys. Each of our foster children has blessed our lives with their own unique story.
Kathleen M. Paydo's goals are to teach others about the foster care life and to help members of the community understand how they themselves can use their talents to impact the life of a foster child. Kathleen believes that families are the foundation of society, and when children are protected and well cared for, future generations thrive as well.
Kathleen is a licensed foster parent and author who promotes child-care advocacy in her home and in the community. She is a member of the National Foster Parent Association and is a registered nurse in the state of Ohio. Kathleen and her husband, Ron, have been married for thirty-five years and are blessed with four beautiful children. Kathleen and Ron have opened their home throughout most of their marriage, to 165 foster children who have no one to care for them and nowhere else to go.

As a digital painter using textures that mimic pastels, oil paints, and watercolor, she pursues the rainbow in her palette, seeking to add a touch of childhood magic to her work. From one of her earliest illustrated picture books, Hair Like Mine, to the New York Times bestselling Parker Looks Up, Bea explores themes that unify rather than divide.

“From my first time participating in the Contest, I looked up to the judges after meeting them. I loved their work, their passion for the field, and how they were willing to give back and share their wisdom with artists like me, who at the time really needed someone to take me under their wing. They taught me how to pursue my career, how to avoid pitfalls as an artist. They made themselves available if I or any of the other artists needed it. They became an invaluable resource in my life and helped to shape my career today.
